General chatter / Happy New Year, 2017.
« on: January 01, 2017, 02:15:15 PM »
It's that time, and now it's ripe to make for reflection and cheers. How was your year? Do you feel you can improve on it? Since I've yet to see anything of mention, we'll double this as our belated Christmas topic.

So, I bid Christmas greetings to whoever I missed.

Earlier this year, we all seemed dispersed, with some frequenting here... others there. Eventually, the buzz behind Discord went into full swing, and much of iM@S' English population has congregated there since.

Now it's more a fuller community, with loads of talkative possibility. Crazy difference when you think about it.

Moving on... what gifts did all you get from Santa? Have you given to others? I'll elaborate mine -- beyond giving and receiving various treats, clothing, grooming and gaming products, I felt these stood out most:

An Android smartphone, or the Galaxy J3(6). Gifted by my parents, it's replacing a blatant relic from 2010ish.

The new and old, so really blatant. You're welcome to say what you will of the model, but I can do a lot now.

Then there's what I've pushed for my family's sake:

A new best friend whom I call Daisy. Our step-dad brought her home... made mom the happiest she's been.

As I mentioned once, she makes all the bad things go away. We're looking to cherish her for years to come.

So far as resolutions go? Well, those tend to go half-baked in hindsight and relativity. While things like eating better and drawing more do sound nice, it's not something to form unreasonably high expectations for.

If nothing else, one could be more charitable about it and say, "I'll try make all the right decisions this year."

Even then, I already know I won't succeed -- not with everything, nor with everyone. It's in our nature to do mistakes, but damn it all if we can't learn by them; here's to sheer emphasis for the "trying" part, then.

That said, here's to everyone's day. Passing out.

General chatter / R.I.P. Carrie Fisher (1956 - 2016)

She was clearly one to empower women back in the day, so hearing of this felt so surreal. Nevertheless, I give her thanks for shaping my childhood.

Her final year was 60. May the force be with her.

Welcome Center / Stepping down for a while.

Which by that? I mean a very long while.

When I first joined this community, I was star-struck with the pursuit of meeting people; it'd make for talk, laugher, gaming... and just being myself.

But recent events have made it abundantly clear I'm prone to lose my way. I've been reaching out to others, but I still haven't been fully redeemed.

Not yet.

Some things need time to mend, which I realized too little too late... These are things you don't know you can truly take back -- a no-win scenario.

To make matters worse? I've had a close friend demonizing me with little-to-no remorse -- do you have any idea what that does to my conscience?

I broke down, big time. I'll do my damnedest to make things better.

So, I will impose on myself a year-long hiatus, starting in November. I'll cease contact with the Idolmaster community and by extension its hobbies.

... Even if I'm to deprive myself of such pleasures? So be it. This'll be my solution to that no-win scenario; for growth, and if God willing, forgiveness.

I know few will be disheartened by this, so I'll leave you a memento:

I'm not that remarkable, but now you have a face. For those really aware, here was my sister:

These are the glory days, where you could worry about virtually nothing. I strive to live by good example, if only because I'm the one child really able to anymore.

Furthermore, it's not often I take from my Native American culture... but we go by seven teachings of words, and how they're representative to animals that give.

The bear represents courage; the wolf for humility; the eagle for love; the buffalo for respect; the turtle for truth; the beaver for wisdom; the raven for honesty.

Hell, I'm not even very traditional at all -- I'm more the apple that's red on the outside, white in -- but even then, to go against these examples just isn't my way.

For all fellow Producers here, please continue repping our idols to heart's content; I know you'll look after them. Any praise to Kotoha would also make me happy.

I'll miss your banter to say the least, but please treat each other well -- like a family. I can spare a few more days for replies... but I'm set on journeying myself.

See you in the next generation from now. Third Vision, maybe?

General chatter / The decadence of life scares me.
« on: October 27, 2016, 07:05:00 AM »
And not for myself, but rather loved ones.

Time and again I'm gripped by this one irrational fear: to lose a parent. This occurs sporadically, and it'll bring me down. It's not so much I dread their actual cause of death, but the inevitability.

It's rough, and is a quicker way to trigger me a fight-or-flight response... But granted, I feel many here can relate. Anyway, I'll lend further context on my mother -- for starters, her name is Diane.

She also reached her fifties, yet will live many more thanks to exercise. Moreover, Diane's a responsible woman, often working health care. She's charitable and quick to call people out for wrongdoing.

At home? She's caring as you'd expect; Diane pushed me to graduation and left many a valuable advice since. Even as we live separately, she sends biscuits or left-overs occasionally. Genuine super-mom.

So yeah, it weighs on me. No one had a larger impact, and to this day I still find myself asking, "how would she do it?" I know people aren't made to bottle up... So here I ask, how does one even cope?

If anything, I do feel better typing this.

Other iM@S discussion / The Recent Youtube Purge...
« on: October 27, 2016, 02:39:15 AM »
First and foremost, what the actual fuck?

So this debacle cropped up just now -- numerous content creators have had their channels ended with copyright strikes. What precedent kicked this off so globally is beyond me.

What I do know off-hand is the following users struck down are Heat End, Hime Idol, ShirayukiP, TheTanStar, ClimbyP and Virgofall. There's indeed more, from what people tell me.

There are no words as to how hard I'd rip into Namco right now. These people have been creative and dedicated fans, spreading the joy of iM@S to more a widespread audience.

Aaaaaaaaa- I could just plow my fucking head through this monitor right now! This is WRONG.

There's no strategy, let alone sense of pressure. At best? One can describe it as a grindfest. Setsuna had established this to great detail on her stream, so I felt inclined to share my reflection.

Back then, you either had time management or more importantly, festivals -- the latter was especially focal to iM@S, as it was the competitive component to challenge what the player learned.

You needed a game-plan to beat those, and now it's gone. As is, this problem extends to how linear notes are, right down to bursts; you just know when they're coming. Hardly any variation.

Now all you're worried for is the drops you get.

General chatter / CSGO Gambling Scandal
« on: July 05, 2016, 06:01:15 PM »
This has been making way like a wild-fire, and it's beyond scummy as fuck. Let's bring in the context.

To summarize: Tmartn and some other Youtube heroes are owners of a notable gambling website for Counter Strike: Global Offensive skins. They made videos promoting this site by showing off the big wins they got -- but they never disclosed their relationship with it. Yeah, they brought the shadiness up to 11, not to mention having this gambling binge directed at kids to further their profits.

Beyond that, TotalBiscuit did some fierce work with putting these guys on blast. Well worth the watch.

From a legal standpoint, it all spells well-earned disaster. Anyhow, anyone up for some popcorn butter?

General chatter / New Feature Unlocked: FEMALE ONLY!
« on: June 17, 2016, 09:43:14 PM »
Tired of the toxic atmosphere of gaming? Well now you can sign up for a special Xbox Live service, FEMALE ONLY, where you can play with girls only. Sorry guys!

So for thoughts, is this even a good idea? Would you use a female-only Facebook? What about a male-only Ebay? Maybe the time is nigh for gender only sites.

But really, though, I can only liken this to a pillow fort with the sign, "No Boys Allowed!"

General chatter / Man files restraining order against God.

His prayers will now certainly go unanswered.

An Israeli man who believes God has been unkind to him asked a court for a restraining order, but the judge tossed out his request calling it “ludicrous,” the Times of Israel reports.

The man, from the northern port city of Haifa, represented himself in court. He said he'd been trying to get the restraining order from police for the last three years. Instead, they sent patrol cars to his home roughly 10 times, the Walla news site reported.

The man claimed God exhibited a negative attitude toward him. Local reports didn't explain exactly how he knew that.

Bizarrely, the notes did state that God did not appear in the courtroom.

Freaking God, man. Always walking loose.

What are all the cool things you bought overseas or otherwise really far away? Could be just about anything, so long as it came in the mail. Pictures would be nice, as well~.

To start, here's my recent arrivals along with some Cherry Pepper for size comparison:

Chibified RWBY. They're a lot smaller than expected, but I especially adore Weiss' pout.

A full-scale figure of Pyrrha Nikos. The details are actually pretty solid as is her posture.

Here's an absolute favourite -- everyone loves our childhood hero and flawless role mod-

Then this happens, because you knew it had to been done. Regrets? What are those?

Meanwhile, my camera's not irrevocably shit now because iPad. My PS4 box makes for a nice backdrop, even. Now with all that out of the way, what else do people have? :3

General chatter / Hand tremors after intense playing?
« on: December 22, 2015, 08:40:23 AM »
I never really thought about this, but as the title says, this involves an involuntary shaking of the hands after those high-octane sessions.

Upon having these tremors during an intermission lobby of Black Ops 3, I mused, "Oh hey, this again." Before long, it settles after a minute in, and with there being a lull I wondered: how often do people experienced this? What are common remedies? Stuff like that.

Color me piqued, so what's the deal? My only guess is the body recuperates from any big adrenaline surge one would have from gaming.

From what I read abroad, this is prevalent in highly-competitive games like StarCraft, Call of Duty or MOBAs in general -- things that demand multitasking and precision throughout the way, and where those crazy victories can either be snatched or stolen on a dime.

So yeah, thought it'd be interesting to bring light for one of those small, peculiar things -- even at the potential expense of fap jokes. :P

General chatter / Where were you on 9/11?
« on: September 12, 2015, 08:28:18 PM »
Well, having been the 11th of September, I doubt there's a person in this world who doesn't remember what happened in America fourteen years ago. I just want to take the time to ask where any of you were when it happened and how it affected you.

From what jumbled pieces I have, I've been in elementary school. Being about eleven years old, our class was simply minding our own in the everyday, mundane atmosphere. I think it was some time before lunch hour when things went out of whack.

Then, a voice sounded the intercom and mandated all classes be shut down. Many students had no clue, but the more you looked upon staff, they had this bereaved look -- almost motionless in a sense. They didn't hide it well if you paid close attention.

When I got home, my parents were similarly distressed, but they did their best to put their face on for me. I remember the smouldering second tower, right after the first fell. Everything's blank afterwards, but it's fair to imagine I was whisked away.

It's pretty surreal, right down to when one finally discovers they caught Bin Laden. What a feeling that was, so any thoughts to share?

General chatter / Google+ to Sever Ties with Youtube.
« on: July 29, 2015, 04:56:29 AM »

http://www.slashgear.com/google-cuts-ties-with-youtube-with-one-important-warning-27394486/

Quote
Google announces cutting software ties between YouTube and their social network Google+. No longer will YouTube require a Google+ profile for new users looking to upload, comment, or create a channel. No longer will comments posted on a YouTube video also be posted on a user's Google+ profile. Freedom from one or the other is upon us. No longer will Google be pushing Google+ directly in to the comments section of YouTube, and both parties will be the better for it.

With the cut between the social network Google+ and video network YouTube comes an end to YouTube comments appearing on Google+. This will have a big effect on the social network for those that follow people who comment on YouTube videos on the regular. For those that only follow people who stick to Google+ exclusively, not much will change.

When a person shares a YouTube video to Google+, YouTube will now no longer be posting a notification in their comments section about said share. Because nobody wanted to know that anyway.

Users wishing to remove their Google+ from the face of the earth may do so soon. BUT -

And this is a big but: Users should NOT remove their Google+ profile until Google gives the go-ahead. Google has not cut the ties between one network and the other yet. They will soon.

If you delete your Google+ profile now, you'll delete your YouTube channel.

You need to wait. Stay tuned here and to Google's your channel and Google+ page for more information.

Ooooooooh shit. Is salvation finally upon us after these many years?
