As it turned out, an animated adaptation of SideM has all been confirmed to be green-lit.

WOW. A rhythm (hopefully rhythm) game AND an anime? I figured it would be one or the other, but to get BOTH at the same time is such a neat surprise. I'm so happy with all the decisions Scamco has made with SideM, definitely makes them less of a scam in my heart.

According to a reddit post on the iM@S sub, apparently GamiP found a producer and staff willing to make a SideM anime a reality, which leads me to believe A-1 Pictures will not handle the anime. Not too sure how studios work in Japan (can directors and producers work at any studio they want, or do they stick to one studio?) but I'm wondering what studio Scamco has chosen. As someone who really enjoyed the iM@S and iM@S CG anime (CG to a lesser extent), I'm a bit worried about how the SideM anime will go. If anything I'll probably love it a lot more (as long as it doesn't go an utapri direction and become a reverse harem romance oh god please no anything but that scamco please im begging you dont mess this one up)

Nonetheless, there will be a NicoNico broadcast on 3/15 (for 315PRO) where they'll discuss the production staff and show some key visuals, so I really hope we'll see the other idols in this new art style! I'm also curious if they'll focus on a core twelve ~ fifteen like CG and ML or if they'll try for all of 315PRO.

Pretty sure y'all already noticed this, but if you go to the SideM anime homepage and look at the source code, you can find Takahashi-satchou's silhouette!

315Prez is recruiting Producers and trying to find out which one is the best P to be part of 315Pro.

At first, I was aggressively against the idea of SideM getting an anime before Million Live. In fact, the mere idea made me furious.

However, over time, I came to accept the fact and realized that all it would do was delay a Million Live anime rather than outright cancel it.

Plus, this gives me a better opportunity to get introduced to SideM alongside the new Live on St@ge game.

So bring on the era of male idols, I say!

Is that confirmed and is there a source for that?

Gami- P said  that he was glad that he found a studio that wanted to handle a side M anime. So I would say it is safe to assume that A1 will not be doing it. Of course there is no official source but I'm pretty sure it will be confirmed sooner than later

Not sure if Million Live takes up the assets of an entire studio but judging by the card's art style and comparing it to the iM@S anime, I think A-1 Pictures are the people behind ML's art and they probably have their hands full with them as well as the many anime they put out each year. Not to mention they're finding plenty of success with the four seasons of UtaPri that they animated; they probably have no reason to work on a SideM anime. (Let's not forget the time A-1 worked one of their animators to death)

Keeping SideM to whatever-studio and Million Live to A-1 Pictures lets both franchises have quality content AND have content going on at the same time, so here's hoping SideM goes to another studio! Judging by the promo artwork, I'm not too worried about the quality of the anime (the story's a whole other rant haha)

A producer and staff could still be A-1, but at the very least new info will be coming out soon.

Honestly, I feel like that's the best-case scenario. SideM and Million Live running at the same time under different studios would be an interesting experiment. If anything, I'd actually have more than one anime to watch during a season.

I think Sunrise would be a great choice since Love Live! Sunshine!! Season 2 was announced for a Fall release. Maybe SideM will air in the summer and then they'll be able to rake in both male idol fans and female idol fans!

A-1 Pictures will be in charge of the SideM anime, so it really does seem like Million Live won't get an adaptation this year, unfortunately for ML fans! You do have Theater Days, though =P

Pretty much knew it, since Risa Taneda is on hiatus. I think they wanted all the voice actresses present for all the recordings.

You could say that but htere are hits that she is back from hiatus or slowly starting to come back.
But most likely it is because side M has to stand up against other male idol games that dominate the market at the moment like Idolish7, marginal#4, tsukiuta and many more which got anime adaptations last/this year. It is more likely that the anime coming so soon is a marketing strategy to stay relevant inside this huge pool of male idols which have a pretty big fanbase.

S.E.M. trailer and visual released!

So far we have DRAMATIC STARS, Beit, and S.E.M. as the ones with anime artwork. I'm still really curious to see how A-1 Pictures will pull a cast of lessthan50 characters off. It's not as big as Cinderella Girls where most of them get short cameos, but it's a comfortable size like Million Live where they could easily give all the units one or two episodes and then focus on the main ten ~ fifteen idols.

That being said, the art style is looking great and I enjoyed the 765 and CG anime, so here's hoping A-1 Pictures gives the best spinoff the anime it deserves! (still hoping on SideM joining M@STERS of IDOL WORLD though)

I wanted that to happen! All 4 franchises in one big concert (and hopefully a world tour, but that idea is not going to happen)! I wish the original 765PRO ALL STARS+ would have a reunion concert. I could sacrifice anything just to go to Japan and hear Harami and the rest live.

Bruh, I'm just hyped that Ryo might show up.

It's crazy looking at his SideM cards. That boy GREW UP.

Idk what happened but DANG

Also really hyped to see more of Jupiter. I always found them to be a really interesting unit, especially since they were the only teen male characters in the main games (as far as I can remember).

All in all, I'm really hyped for the SideM anime.

New trailer for the anime!

Not too sure what to expect tbh, and that's not in a bad way. I'm very happy with how the artstyle looks and I love what units we got as the 315PRO ST@RTING MEMBERS, but 19 main characters is definitely a lot for what will most likely be a two-cour show, not to mention the gradual appearances and recruitment of the other characters not featured as ST@RTING MEMBERS. I'm actually pretty excited to see how A-1 Pictures handles it. Seeing the other Cinderella Girls idols make cameos in the anime was so exciting to me and I still don't have any idea why I enjoyed the cameos so much, but since SideM has a smaller cast, we might actually get to see all units get some focus at one point and get more than just cameos.

I'm really excited about the direction SideM is going and I'm really happy it's rising to where Cinderella Girls and Million Live! are in terms of content. Solo songs, rhythm game, and an anime. I'm so hyped about the future of 315PRO!

I'm ready for it to be October now.
I was so happy when they finally released the promo art of Jupiter (and their new costumes) because, even though I love all of my idol boys, I would've cried if Jupiter wasn't included in the ST@RTING LINE.
I want to make a post or thread (I don't know where would be appropriate for it to be) of all of my Predictions/Wish List for the anime.
...I'm just so happy for this dream come true...

First impressions (copy pasted ver.):

- 19 main characters (the first 6 ST@RTING LINE units), A-1 Pictures, what could possibly go wrong
- Face screams A-1 face
- OP song is Reason!!
- Hope the anime isn't rushed (then again, I don't have that much confidence in this anime. I'll be surprised if it's actually good, which is very unlikely)

if it follows the same formula as anim@s and dereani then yes
but I can't imagin teru crying because of such a thing like haruka and uzuki did
but I can image kaoru bitchslaping him and talking sense into him xDDD

I liked how GamiP says that he wanted to expand the world of iM@S. He created a rival unit for 765Pro (aka 961Pro), added a backstory for President Takagi and Kuroi which lead to their rivalry, then added male idols into the mix.
And once they left 961Pro, he continued Jupiter's story with SideM and continued to expand from there (and added Ryo from 876 as well.)

I'd like to see how Ryo's story fit into SideM after he reached A Rank in Dearly Stars and who knows if we might get to see Ai an Eri again.

Guys, so I just watched the first episode last Sunday, and it was so damn awesome. I don't really have to tell you all what happened, but one thing is for sure: this is probably the best adaptation of any iDOLM@STER anime so far. also I am beginning to love Kaoru now!

Just watched episode 9.  I liked this episode, and the last episode since Jupiter had much importance. (Liked, that flyer too with the 765 idols that the producer was showing to Jupiter.)

(what I’m about to say isn't going to make much sense.  Oh, well).

I just want to say that this episode affected me a lot.  Jupiter helped me take a step closer in getting into im@s way back in 2011 before the anime came out.  I guess I felt I could relate to them more than the producer.  I felt like I was their rival rather than 765.

If I had to describe my feeling this episode, it would be nostalgic (well…I tend overuse this word a lot)

When they left 961 their future was uncertain. That was similar to me when I graduated since I was a student. My future was uncertain too.  I felt helpless.

But, they kept struggling because they wanted to keep their dedication and gratefulness to their fans who supported them even after the disaster with 961.  But, the most important thing I felt they had was patience.  Hoping someday something good will come out of it.

I guess I could sort of relate to that too.  Had several failures and no talent, but kept on struggling. Maybe, my time to shine wasn’t now.  Sometimes, you want things right away.

But now, just like how Jupiter is different from their 2011 self, I’m different from my 2011 self.  They become famous, and looking back I realized how much we changed and improved ourselves.  But, I want to keep going even further. Just want to thank them for being cool guys to hang out with.

And, I really like that song at the end. Just has that feeling of nostalgia.

Just realized SideM has been airing for a while.

I've always liked Jupiter, even when the iM@S2 hatetrain against them was going strong. So I'm glad to see Jupiter make a comeback in more of a mentor role. And you really get a sense of how close those three are. Touma in particular is legit one of my favorite idols. He's definitely the best "red leader" character.

The SideM anime is actually pretty damn good. With Tsubasa and W, things got a little more serious than I was expecting it to, which isn't a bad thing. At least it's not forced drama like Mio. The whole "fuck my previous job I'm gonna become a pop idol" thing gets a little silly, but stranger things have happened in real life. I'd definitely put SideM above Cinderella Girls at the moment.

As a side note, Kaoru is pretty much Slightly Bitchier Chihaya: Doctor Edition. But Shiki is top tier husbando.

You need to remember that some of them had to quit their jobs even before having the idea of becoming idols. Take Tsubasa as an example. He needed to quit because he legit got PTSD thanks to having a troublesome flight (which is honestly one of the most realistic and well-handled examples of drama in im@s, SideM in general has really good bg stories tbh), and that’s because he could’ve ended with the lives of a lot of people who were on that flight. S.E.M’s reasons are the silliest ones, but S.E.M itself is a p silly unit (and one of the most amazing ones! ♡) so it goes well with them lol.

The transition from freelance lawyer to idol was a bit jarring, but I do agree it applies to SEM more than anyone else. SEM's a bit too wacky for me. But I can see why people find them endearing, plus they add a lot of variety to the cast.

Tsubasa's episode was fantastic, actually. I like that the "yellow/green idol" drama was early on, not dragged out, and actually pretty heartbreaking and relatable.

That last episode was nice. HighXJoker worked well.

BTW, looks like they kept the "idol concept". I mean, that thing that was mentioned in the first anim@s. For Miki, is someone who can shine. For Chihaya, is someone who can bring hope. For Haruka, a dream.

For now, we have:

- a hero of justice;
- someone who wants to be the best (but of course, there's something hidden and we'll know soon);
- a person who wanted to "see another view";
- a teacher wanting to guide his students (which sounds pretty noble actually), and other 2 that decided to go with him;
- a group of students wanting to enjoy their youth;
- former soccer players wanting to entertain the people (like they did while playing soccer).

As for Pierre and others, I still didn't get it.

Well, there's the drama for the season. When Kaoru and Teru went off doing solo work and P asked Tsubasa what he was going to do, I had a brief moment of deja vu and was internally screaming TSUBASA NOOOO DON'T GO INTO THE UZUKI SPIRAL OF DEPRESSION. That might also have been brought on by this Tsubasa Utau cover of S(mile)ing! (http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm32331398/). But it seems like that won't be a thing, so I'm relieved.

The drama ball returned to the "cool" character, it looks like. I predict that Slightly Bitchier Chihaya: Doctor Edition will eventually overwork himself and collapse. Really wouldn't mind Jupiter calling him out on his behavior, either.

At first, he just said he want to be the best. Then, he said he want to be the best for money. Great, but there's clearly more. Surely, we'll know his concepts soon enough. But the way he questions his producer leave traces of despair.

As for Pierre and others, I still didn't get it.

Beit were former part-time workers who have family problems (Pierre's two older brothers fought constantly over who should inherit the throne after their father became ill, neglecting Pierre as a result and had to move to Japan to avoid the drama. Minori's parents died when he was very young and his uncle, who took care of him in their place, was murdered when he was a teenager. Kyoji's rich family rejected him for failing the entrance exam for college and then ran away, vowing to succeed without relying on his family's name) becoming their own happy family. They became idols as a way to make people smile (via Minori's suggestion).

And to be honest, that episode didn't do them justice, which is quite sad/amusing considering how fricking popular they are (yes, they're more popular than Jupiter).

And yeah, I'm ready for the popcorns for "Kaoru pls" the episode. *munch munch*
