Translation Project - iDOLM@STER SP - We Need People!
« on: July 16, 2009, 07:30:31 AM »
As said on the old forums, the translation for this game has already started for the PSP.

For information on how to join, please read the wiki here:
http://www.tsukuru.info/tlwiki/index.php?title=Idolmaster_SP

The toolkit for hacking the game and partial translations are now available for download on the wiki.

Asides from that, what I can say about the translation project is that it's going well. nowano and h4axtria are involved with the translation project. I hope I could contribute, but seems like I can't really do anything but supply a icl optimized version of lzcss.exe if I can.

List of members on Project-IM@S that are currently translating the game:
  • nowano
  • AoRF
  • h4axtria

If you want your name added there just tell me, I'll add it for ya  :D

Why not revert the changes? I noticed that on the wiki a few days back.

If you need a grammar nut to march over stuff and make it all correct-y, I can do that, but I'm at a loss with coding and stuff XD

You guys don't need to code anything, all soft is written already, with fancy GUI and all. Have a look at http://www.tsukuru.info/tlwiki/index.php?title=Idolmaster_SP:Hacking

One task that you currently can help the project with is playing the game, bumping into untranslated text that does not belong to scripts, finding it on http://www.tsukuru.info/tlwiki/index.php?title=Idolmaster_SP:Lines-raw page and moving it to http://www.tsukuru.info/tlwiki/index.php?title=Idolmaster_SP:Lines, where translators can work on it (and after that you can immediately insert and enjoy translations).

But there is one thing I really hate about the GUI: lzcss is embedded in the GUI code. Apparently when lzcss runs on my Athlon Dual Core QL-62, it eats up half of the CPU and is as slow as a one legged pregnant woman. I don't know if it's my CPU's problem on handling it or what, but when I used the command line version and rebuilt the game using an ICL compiled version of lzcss.exe, it just went as fast as a fighter jet zooming by the runway...

And, BTW, can you guys move the translation to SVN or Mecurial or something like those two? I'm a spoiled guy that really relies on SVN and hg.exe to do some development work on other apps...

Er, so it takes very long to do what exactly? There's not really much to optimize in lzss; maybe that's a bug in the program.

All code is in SVN, here: http://code.google.com/p/imas-psp/updates/list ; I don't know why someone would want actual translations on SVN.

Actually I prefer that the translations to be on SVN for one reason: It makes it easier for me to patch the entire game! But then again a wiki will let almost anyone edit it or delete it if they feel like they want to...

Yeah, getting all translations at once may be an issue. Here's a quick modification of script I used to work with Sumaga scripts before tlwiki sold out: http://www.tsukuru.info/tlwiki/images/7/7d/Imas-wiki-1.0.tar.bz2.

Type make to get all scripts (you need make program. If on windows, you'll have to install it. I use cygwin but you probably don't need all of it; gnuwin32 will be enough), make update to download new versions of files if someone changed them on wiki, make commit to upload your modifications and make resolve to upload conflicting files.

What about the slowness issue?

I think ICL compiled files can be linked with gcc; So you can compile lzss.c with ICL and everything else with gcc; I can add you to project on google and you can commit necessary changes too I guess. Shall I?

KAMI-EDIT : Please use the edit function, do not double-post.

Actually it was my CPU set to PowerNow! that's slowing the entire system! Damn AMD...
But I'd rather submit the ICL optmized win32 build to you and you can try to link it to the GUI program.

BTW, is automake from mozilla-build package okay?

I'm getting error 400's when I attempt to download the script. Did they actually break something?!

I'm no expert on Perl as I spend lots of time developing on M$'s platform...
