Gameplay Thread
« on: October 12, 2009, 06:42:58 PM »
[If this doesn't belong here, please feel free to move this thread.]

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has any questions about the game itself. I guess we can make this as sort of a Q&A? Let me ask my question.

You how in communication events you get to choose out of 3 phrases to say to your idol? Well what happens when you don't choose one in the time that they give you? Do the game just choose one for you or do you get penalized or what? I've kind of been thinking this for awhile now.

Any other questions are welcome too.

It's the same for the 360 and and the PSP version, you'll choose a random answer.
Also there is no time limit for choosing an answer or replying to someone in DS.

Also
if you let the game chose for yourself on all 3 commus
you'll always get a normal communication.

I have some questions.
1) How can Mami be unlocked in L4U?
2) How to play the Audition section? Just randomly choose between Dance, Visual, and Vocal?
3) How to perform a concert in Idolm@ster (or is it just available only in L4U) ?
4) What is the day off for? And when would the day off event occur?
Thank you for answers.

1. Press R3 when highlighting Ami.
2. When you appeal, you get a certain amount of points for that section depending on your stats.  Your job is to build up the highest amount of points for all sections (especially the judges that give out the most stars).  Timing the appeal just at the right time gives you more points.  Memory appeals evenly spread points for all sections (or reduce if you get a bad one)  Judges lose interest as you appeal to them, but they can be restored through memory appeals.
3. Win an audition.
4. You can freely select a day off at the start of any day.  This gives you and your idol a day off (obviously), giving her a boost in her tension if you need it.

Can anyone upload a screenshot of the Idol Report? I've only seen it like once, and I don't think I can find it anywhere else.

Er, a stupid question, maybe.

I'm actually quite into Dream Club now but I went to check how Iori's doing. I'm just past the tutorial though...
Communication is OK but how do I win an audition?
I mean I mashed some buttons for 'appeal' but the number of points I got weren't enough...

Also, I was quite surprised to find out that the game doesn't leave you any chance to think. I mean that the dialogs are in auto-mode and I'm used to checking every second word in the dictionary so im@s turns out be a real challenge in terms of Japanese.

Do more lessons, wear the right clothes to get the points you want.
Also, for communications, there is always the pause button.

I don't own the 360 games, but can't you turn the dialogues off of auto? Like, so that they don't advance until you hit A or X or whatever?

Nope, no option for that in the 360.  I forgot, was there an option from that in SP?

Thanks a lot for the replies. So it's about lessons. I should try, then.

Also, speaking of the pause button. Of course it helps quite a lot but when you press it a menu pops up blocking the text. That's why I said that it's not quite what I'm used to. I can catch phases in general but usually I check for unknown words and keep notes along the way. im@s just doesn't leave a chance for people who are bad at japanese.

really? I thought it was a big deal for SP because it's auto-advance. XD I thought the 360 dialogues just sat there until you hit the button (save for the ones where you have to make a choice...)
SP is always auto-advance, though. You can't turn it off X<

If you press pause, press RB until you get to the last tab.  That should make the choices a bit more visible.
