According to google translate, it's going to be "Idolmaster Mobile." Unfortunately, I can't think of a way to change "Mobile" to "Handheld," but whatevs.

I'm surprised their doing another mobile game, though, what with their already being Cinderella Girls...

On an unrelated note, is anyone else getting the feeling that a DS sequel is going to come up soon? They've been pushing 876 a lot lately...

Hmmm...I can't imagine a sequel to Dearly Stars unless it's like idolm@ster 2 where the story lines are unrelated.

By mobile I hope they mean vita.

Might become similar to Love+ where the player has to visit different location for promotion and lives.

Also the player may triggers special event at certain time period.

Maybe it will be release on PSVita since it has the 3G function.

Actually they already have the game on mobile phone

I guess this is just an announcement for its new apps

Yeah, I think it's just an app.

@Neko: iDOLM@STER 3DS!! *shot* 876Pro comeback is likely, though right now, with CG and all, it's still anyone's guess. If they do make a comeback, though, I hope 87Pro adds more idols into them.

As for the next game in the franchise, I really don't care where's it's going right now (unless if it's on the last-gen consoles, then I'll go "WTF!?" XD). I mean, 3DS sales were initially poor but look at it now. It's a great success because they took the sleeper hit route. PSVita, starting the same way, will be a sleeper hit too, and I expect the Wii U to do the same. So yeah, it'll be on what they think is more profitable at the start of production. Though since they owe Sony for the anime, it'll more likely to be in the Vita. =_=

I REALLY dislike the idea of Imas 3DS, simply because it's a region locked console. That, and I can't imagine 3D would be too useful to the series as a whole. That, and SP sold better than DS, so I'm guessing Namco will go for the safer system.

Also, if 876pro gets more idols, its likely to get Cineria/Ayane and Yumeko, at least as "unlockable" idols. Both might require another idols story line or some such... Other than that, I don't see them adding too many others. All of the portable imas games, though less restricted than a new one would be, have only featured a small amount of idols: three in the SP games + one unlockable and three in the DS game. I think it might become a pattern to off set the character-happy console game.

Though Shinkan Shoujou might show up, if their appearance in the 360 coding is anything to go by. Also, a reference to Rin, Kirari, and other CG idols might happen, as it would be the first game to be published post-CG. Just a thought.

Well, I'm not gonna defend Namco in their choice for DS because I don't think it had the required space for a proper iMAS game. And since it's not a proper game, it may have been why it didn't sell well. But to say that it sucked because of region lock is unjustified, because I think that's a developmental requirement, and Namco may have just not cared about that fact. Did they care about that in SP? In the PS3 port? I don't think so. Besides, I really don't think Namco cares what we think when they started iMAS because we're not its primary audience- this isn't the sort of game 'the outside market' would like (more notably now, since the western gaming trend is being dominated by FPS and sandbox games).

With regards to console, since a 3DS game pak has more space than a DS (Googled. It says it has up to 8GB of space), it's a better choice than the latter. So yeah, I think the 3DS-Vita more or less equal when it comes to desired specs.

Moving on, the lack of Shinkan Shoujo fanart makes me say that they might not show up, since they didn't seem to appeal to the fans much. Should a future game have 876Pro, I guess having other characters for unlockable S4U is possible. As for Cinderella Girls, I doubt they'll make references and just put them on directly, in their own game or along the veterans (some are getting their own CDs, after all).

Well, I wasn't saying it sucked due to region lock. I was saying I don't want it on the 3DS due to region lock. There's a distinction. I haven't played the game so I am not qualified to make any opinions as to the game itself, and no speculation as to it's sales because I'm honestly not in the know.

As for the Shinkan Shoujou comment, I was just saying that it seems like they're planned for S4U!, and with 876 having been on, it might be a possibility. Not a likely one, mind, but the characters got only a single episode of the anime, so...

I also can't see them adding the CG girls to 876. They'll probably just make up a new agency and bring the most popular CG idols over there.

The second game pretty much only went to PS3 because it sold poorly for 360 (like, 33,000 first week) and the exclusivity deal expired. If  there wasn't an exclusivity deal involved, the first game would have also been released for PS3. I mean they did it for Eternal Sonata, Tales of Vesperia, and Tales of Graces (from Wii). This kind of business practice happens all the time.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Microsoft tried another deal with them for whatever future console they have planned.

In response to the 3DS v. PSV comments, I wonder what has the better DLC system?

I have neither, but I know PSV works on the Sony Entertainment Network (what it's now called I believe). What does Nintendo have?
I feel that if it's not good enough to allow for DLC, Scamco might work on something for PSV just to get the DLC out there.

Besides, claiming multiple consoles is the only way for sure success.

I've said this before, but I would go so far as to say the port already existed, or was very close to complete by the time the XBox360 version came out - a February release followed by an October port only leaves eight months maximum to react and add new content on top (at least one or two that would have had to been devoted to sales evaluations, potential or post-mortem). Add to that the fact that by October, the anime would've been out for one 13-episode... season/course in the hopeful height of media attention, I would say that would be the most opportune time to release a game at all (rather than after it's finished airing in December). I also want to guess that closing air date deals with TV broadcasting companies would be done at least 6 months in advance, in January in this case (I'm no industry insider, but my gut tells me that's a generous bare minimum)...

This wasn't reactionary, it was planned.

Regardless, what system would I want a potential portable Im@s for? ... I guess the Vita, if only because I have more faith in the hardware. ^^

So I went to the im@s website and was greeted with this

Now, I can see that it says 4 days, and the iM@S mobile in the top left ...
Can anyone translate?  It's clearly an announcement of some kind.

See it yourself?  Or is this just me?

"New Project Starting in Four Days"

Hmmm...that is quite interesting indeed.
Once more information goes up we can start a new thread.

@nublet & animagic: Even before Cinderella Girls, iDOLMASTER MOBILE existed long ago. If this means anything, it's just an update to that, probably bringing the iMAS2 canon into effect (currently I think it uses SP canon). Though don't quote me on that. Anyway, there's no thread for it on the Products section, so you can bring it there.

Back to console.

@Neko: I guess I poorly worded it. I apologize for that, but it doesn't change my stance that they will put it on whatever console they choose, region-locked or not. If they want to bring iMAS out of Japan, they'll localize it, hopefully, just with subs.

@animagic: Well, Nintendo has this thing called the eShop for the 3DS. On the question of does it have DLC compatibility, well, they can experiment with it now since it's young. Besides, DS had one too (probably more than what's recorded in the Wiki (not following the scene)) so possibility is there.

Well yes I know. But I don't think they would make that big a deal about just making iDOLM@STER 2 new canon.
Because that may or may not upset fans.

I'm looking forward to their announcement no matter what it is though.
