iM@S Stereoscopic 3D
« on: January 11, 2011, 10:19:26 AM »
Hi all, I've known about iM@S and been interested in it for a long time, but I have only recently purchased a Japanese Xbox360, so I have just started. Please be nice on me  ;D

Anyways, I was going through some youtube videos of iM@S, and I came across a bunch that were shot in stereoscopic 3D:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rvsj6hKjN10
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOb264idUoU
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ADZbtxi97w
and many more at http://www.youtube.com/user/tsukushi1

I don't know how the videos above look in traditional anaglyph, or in passive 3D, but with Nvidia 3D Vision (active 3D) they look absolutely OUTSTANDING! There is very good image popout during the "close-up" videos, and accurate depth. Most 2D->3D conversion methods utilize frame pixel shifting to create 3D, so when the image isn't moving it appears a bit flat. These videos don't seem like that at all, so I am assuming they are in true 3D (shot with 2 different perspectives and combined). Does anyone know how to make such a video with iM@S? Or even play iM@S in 3D? I thought 3D was only implemented on a few games for Xbox360 so far, so I am a bit confused...  ???

Sorry for my useless post to those who don't have any 3D viewing devices ^_^;; If you don't have any 3D equipment, try viewing in side-by-side mode, then cross your eyes to bring the images together  :)

EDIT: I just realized... was this made with exported models into MMD, and not on the xbox360 itself?

So this day I've been dreaming of (and expecting) has finally come...
The moment that someone starts converting iM@S vids into 3D and uploading them.
I guess it's no longer difficult to convert something into 3D.
My case for example, my 3D screen also has the ability to do the same thing; by just clicking one button.
Then play the iM@S in perfect 3D as you have explained.

Anyways, I really appreciate that someone starts uploading 3D iM@S vids.

No, these are iM@S vids XD MMD doesn't look this well-polished (you'd especially be able to tell with the movements of the characters; iM@S uses motion capture whereas MMD requires you to do things manually, so iM@S videos are more polished, like this).

I don't have any 3D glasses or anything, but it looks cool that people managed to make them into 3D!

Until recently now MMD can use the Microsoft Kinect for motion capture and it looks awesome.
However, they do appear to be real gameplay footage. They're great!

Videos looks pretty cool with anaglyph 3D, but I bet it's nothing close to Passive 3D or even Active 3D.

Does anyone have a 3DS on here?
I heard that you can watch stereoscopic 3D videos as long as that youtube video has it.

edit: wait...the browser hasn't come out yet, right?

I have a 3DS.  You are correct, the 3DS Browser is not available yet, so we cannot confirm if it can play stereoscopic 3D.

MMD, or Miku Miku Dance, is a program that allows you to make 3-D animations. It was originally for Vocaloid use, but you can get models of all kinds of characters including iM@S now. Its animations aren't as smooth or clear as iM@S games, though.

I'm sure the 3-D is really awesome! *wishes I had glasses or a 3DS*
